On June 30, the eve of Rooster Teeth’s RTX event, RWBY: Ice Queendom will premiere at the Paramount Theatre in Austin, TX. The new western anime will then premiere on Japanese television on July 3 marking it as the first western anime to air in Japan. Fans in the U.S. will be able to watch Ice Queendom the same day on Crunchyroll and Rooster Teeth FIRST.

Ice Queendom is designed to take viewers on a new adventure after establishing the world of RWBY. Sadly, that’s about all we know so far. I’m very intrigued to see what this brand-new adventure is. Sharing his excitement about this opportunity, RWBY showrunner Kerry Shawcross said:

When we premiered RWBY at RTX in 2013, I never imagined that we would be where we are today with the show. We’re fans of anime and that’s how this all started. To see RWBY inspire Japanese artists to create RWBY: Ice Queendom is surreal to say the least. It’s only fitting that our biggest fans be the first to experience this show at the event where it all started.
